E-Readers...

One of the Technology discussions we've begun is the potential and issues of using e-readers in schools. If you or staff/administration are considering purchasing e-readers like Nooks and Kindles, please look over this list that was put together from recent conversations with "experts" and the help of a couple of really informative sites. Thanks to Jim and Theresa and Chris Ripple with Central Kansas Library System.

Learn about the "Overdrive" audiobooks and eBooks download process at this really good site.

Craig has tested the process and downloaded both audiobooks and eBooks from the SLK site to a TPS computer.

To download audiobooks you need to first download the Overdrive Media Console, which will also enable you to copy your audiobook, if rights permit to your mobile device...ipod, phone, audio cd player, mp3 player.

To download eBooks you need to first download Adobe Digital Reader (there is a link from the SLK "Overdrive" site), which will manage, and open your ebooks as well as enable you to copy them to an ereader like a Nook. (A list of compatible devices is available at the SLK site.)
